# Two Tellings > A side-by-side reader for two tellings of one episode of the Ramayana. The epic lives in a great many tellings - told at home, written, painted, staged, sung and danced. Type how you heard one episode and how another telling put it, two to eight short lines each. The page matches the lines into moments (your own picks first, then shared words), draws the two tellings as palm-leaf manuscript leaves tied with red cord, with a thread between every shared moment and a loose end for a moment found in one telling only, and decides one verdict with fixed rules: close kin, cousins or distant kin. One metered run describes every moment from the tellings' own words - told alike, told differently, or found in one telling only - without ranking or correcting either telling. A second-telling line set to a first-telling number (or to "none") keeps that pick; every other line is matched when it shares at least two words with a first-telling line (Dice overlap 0.25 or more), best overlap first, ties to the earlier lines. Each line joins at most one match. - Verdict, first match wins: no shared moment, or under a quarter of the moments shared - distant kin; 60% or more shared - close kin; otherwise - cousins. - Names are the capitalised words each telling uses, listed as in both, only in the first, or only in the second. ## The paid task - Task id: compare-tellings (the one task). Input fields (all strings): task, episode, telling_a, telling_b, facts, optional retry_note. - Reply: one JSON object with headline, moments (id, how, note), core and closing. The page re-checks the reply: every moment filed the way the page matched it, no names neither telling uses, no ranking words, no outside sources, no time or weather words, no contact details. - The lines, the leaves, the matching, the verdict and the downloads (Markdown, CSV, JSON, SVG, PNG) are free and run in the browser. ## Notes - The Ramayana is retold in many languages and media, and families, classrooms and stages often tell the same episode differently. - Every telling belongs to the story's long life: the page compares wording and never says which telling is right, older or complete. It is a reading aid, not religious instruction. - Model: gpt-terra, metered per run. Saved comparisons go to the signed-in account only when you press save. ## Sources - Built on the SkillSafe skill @basicmachines-co/memory-literary-analysis (seeding the people and events of a literary work and cross-referencing them): https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@basicmachines-co/memory-literary-analysis
